Hi so here is a wierd one...

my computer runs

Windows 7 Ultimate
2x EVGA 780 Hydro Copper
Asus Rampage IV Extreme
Core I7 4960
Platimax 1500w PSU
Asus Xonar Essence STX
HDD

3x Asus 27" monitor

So heres the problem, So my computer randomly gets the problem stating that the Driver stopped responding and was rebooted, i know that this is a known problem but i've tried everything, i did a clean install using a driver sweeper to delete all drivers and then install a new one, I tried rerolling to a past driver that people state is more stable and it hasn't helped.

So initially I had it in SLI mode but i heard that that could cause problems so I took the SLI off. This problem still persists. The weirdest thing is that it fails the most when playing Dungeon defenders and not when playing BF4, note that I am running it on the highest setting. Now I am not sure if this is related but when I tried to SLI the graphics cards again I just get a Black screen when it updates the settings, I have to reboot to get use of my computer back. Now when this happens the graphics drivers do not start as in my screen looks like it does when drivers are not installed. I tried to reinstall my drivers but it always failed right after it unpacks the drivers. I rerolled my computer to before I did the SLI using my backup.

Does anyone have an idea what is wrong with my computer? I have no idea where to go from here.

As an update, i forgot to mention when the the driver reboots on DD, DD keeps working but BF4 freezes and just shows either a white screen or no screen.

Thanks
Surj

Surj,
I'm wondering about your game since you have no problem in one but all problems in another and even with 1 or 2 cards this doesn't change. New drivers doesn't change. etc. That game is updated a LOT.

Versions
v1.0 = v7.01 (Initial Release)
v7.02
v7.03
v7.04
v7.05
v7.06
v7.07
v7.08
v7.09
v7.10
v7.11
v7.12
v7.13
v7.14
v7.15a = Update #10
v7.16
v7.17
v7.18
v7.19
v7.20
v7.37
v7.38e/f
v7.39b/c
v7.40c
v7.41b
v7.42
v7.47c
v7.50

You can see how many versions there are. Maybe you're not up to date and having a problem that is solved by simply getting the latest version. Also this is NOT the complete list of updates, so you can see the possibility of a problem here. Check that first before chasing a problem further on hardware that might not exist. IF anyone is having a particular game problem (others are fine), I always say check for updates for the game & gpu drivers first, and possibly re-install DX from Microsoft's website. If that fails then you start troubleshooting for real ;) Then again you may already be up to date on the GAME and you can feel free to ignore this post :) It will still serve others who probably don't know as much about troubleshooting as you.

Hope this helps.

Hi, I checked both games and both are current. Do you have any idea what I can do to debug/ narrow down this problem?

thanks Surj

At this point you've got multiple games failing now (I see you updated the post with more stuff about failing) and I question one of the vid cards. What is the message you get (exactly) from the crashing after the driver unpacks?

http://www.tested.com/tech/pcs/762-how-to-stress-test-your-hardware-and-keep-your-pc-stable/
A guide to testing the PC, which links to tools I've used also. Can you pass a vid card test (pick any, 3dmark, furmark, etc) and memtest or prime95? If you can't make it a day in prime95 you have hardware issues probably. I usually burn test my PC's for 3 days; One or longer in prime then throw it into a game at hi-res for a day or two in a looped demo that thrashes everything else. If I fail at windows crap I would do some testing outside of windows (memtest at boot, I also have quicktech pro/phd pci etc but that stuff isn't available free...$1500 for the pair when I paid...LOL).

Can you try with one Vid card out of the PC? I think that is probably the easiest hardware test if you are comfortable with the PC top off (and a single screw/power plug to the card or two in most cases). If crashing gets even worse you're probably using the bad one and I'd swap it out for the one you already removed and see if the problems go away. Both could be bad but I doubt it (don't forget about ESD when changing the parts). In a time crunch I'd just swap the cards out rather than waiting out a few days of tests in prime etc (and do these AFTER), but that's just me and I built PC's for a living for a decade. Software is the simple longer route, but swapping out cards is so easy to me and shorter time that might immediately fix the issue pointing out which card is bad (if at all). I'm also in a position to be able to swap a drive and load a quick base image to test a clean windows, but again most people don't have an easy way to do that nor are they comfortable with it. That would be done probably last as it's more effort than card swaps/software running all night (assuming I had another way online, which I do, many in fact, tablet, notebook etc).

Sorry I didn't get back faster, I missed the post.
