I have read quite a few mixed reviews on almost ll the R9 290s, Recently the gigabyte windforce R9 290 was at a fair price but the user reviews were no that great. I was really expectin this GPU to make more of an impact after seeing allthise Titan Killer posts back in November, though those were for the 290x at the time the 290 was geting better performance due to thermals. Another one is the DCII R9 290 which the price keeps getting lower and lower it is actually about $50 below the refernce card...why is this are owners really getting these poor results??

Solution
The initial batch with reference coolers ran real hot. AMD said the temps were fine. But we didn't like them.

The the new custom cooler varieties came out eg GIgabyte. They ran fine. But then bit mining became fashioable and top end radeon cards were found to do the job too well. So prices jumped up.

Now prices have dropped and the cards run at better temps. So go get one! the 290 is better value than the 290x

That really does not asnwer about the Asus R9 290 DCII which i was actually the most curious about since it is supposed muc better but is cheaper and has bad reveiws...how did your answer get selected?

Somebody else must have selected it. The TH "best answer" system is all messed up.
You should be able to unselect it if you want.

Honestly I would look at Sapphire for quality
