DRAM LED ON - Asus P9X79

Hi everyone,

I recently purchased all the parts I needed to build a computer. (See here: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3oBKJ) I am a novice at this, and it's been very challenging building the computer. The build works when out of case, but when in case, the DRAM LED light on my Asus 99X79 Mobo stays on.

I had this same problem about 3 weeks ago. RMA'd some parts, tried it again. Same thing.

I've done trouble shooting as best I can; all the 'do a+b than c' to no avail. It doesn't help that I am very new at this, and unfamiliar with the language and technology.

Can anyone here point me to some helpful information, or provide advice on what I might be able to do to help myself?

Thanks for your time,
Paolo

If your computer works outside the case but refuses to work inside it, you probably have a bit of metal in the wrong place shorting out something on the board.

The most common cause is a misplaced motherboard tray stud - double-check that all your motherboard studs actually line up with motherboard holes and make sure you have no misplaced extras.
