My laptop has been running slow for a while now. (Slow boot times, loading programs) So I finally decided to get a SSD for booting and important programs, but still have my HDD for normal storage.

Questions:

1. How could I transfer my current OS and important programs (photoshop, after effects) to the new SSD? Then delete the files from the HHD

2. How do I set up the SSD as the primary boot drive?

Really I just need a guide to adding an SSD and everything in between.

Thanks in advance, Chase.

Copy the data to the external, Verify they all copied perfectly, delete them from the HDD. Again this is the DATA, not the PROGRAMS, you are copying to the external drive.

I always recommend creating a full backup before messing with your drives.

You could do a clone of the HDD to the SSD: http://www.howtogeek.com/97242/how-to-migrate-windows-7-to-a-solid-state-drive/
Be sure to do the 'tweaking' when finished. There are a few changes to Windows that need to be done to improve SSD performance and to keep it from writing itself to an early death.

I use this free software for cloning drives: http://www.todo-backup.com/products/home/free-backup-software.htm
