So i want to try and use a ps3 controller on my pc because i just want to try it with bf4 and other games. But i was wondering if this would cause a noticeable amount of input lag. Thanks

It shouldn't cause input lag, but you'll find that controllers in general tend to be less precise on PCs. This is because most console games (or shooters at least) have auto-aim, where the console adjusts acceleration, sensitivity, and in some cases even reticule motion to aim for you.

You'll need either custom drivers or a program like Motioninjoy to make a PS3 controller work on a PC.

Yep, that was my experience as well. I have since acquired a 360 controller for Dark Souls and Dark Souls 2, but the PS3 controller worked fine, just a bit of extra work to set up motioninjoy. There was no noticeable input lag for me either.
