I have had a new pc for just a bit over a month. I am not entirely sure of the actual model of the hard drive as the pc was built for me. However I noticed that just before the PC turns off I can hear the hdd head parking. That's fine to me as it is shutting down, however sometimes this happens whilst I am using the pc, maybe sometimes when I leave a game idle or just using TeamSpeak. Is this ok? As the sound does not remind me of a dying hard drive and it has been running perfectly fine.

I was wondering that it could just be parking whilst idle to save energy ? I am not very good on the storage side.

Thanks.

You can actually change the default TIME to shut down the hard drive in the Power Options. You can GOOGLE for how.

I recommend about 20 minutes. If it's too short, the drive turns off and on more frequently which not only wears it out faster but you have to wait for it to start more.

If you set the time too LONG, then you get the noise longer and also don't benefit from the power savings.
