So, I've recently had a screen die and I'm on a back up 1440x900 I had laying around. Now, I've got AMD Vision Control Centre/AMD Catalyst on this machine. My problem is, It's displaying at a max of 1366x768, when I unlock the max screen resolution and set it to the screen's native res of 1440x900 it shrinks it down to the middle of the screen, black bars on the left and right and does the whole "Input not supported" I'm guessing I should just remove the AMD catalyst shit?

Solution
1) Uninstall all AMD/Catalyst software then reinstall the latest from AMD direct (if laptop may need to use the latest from the laptop support site)

2) Find and install the monitor DRIVERS if available (mainly needed for VGA monitors though not necessary)

3) Try all the inputs (DVI preferred since the PC can usually handshake the monitor to know its specs).
