My friend got an old Dell desktop which is Dell studio 540s and he wants to change to a new graphics but we dont know to what one. The specs are

    Gpu: ATI hd 4300/4500
    Cpu: intelcore i2
    Ram: 4gb
    Psu: not sure, maybe 300w
It has an pci and pci-e slot

He wants to use it for gaming, but he said he doesnt need a really good gpu, only one that can run games at medium graphics settings. The budget is no more than £100.

More about : needed gpu

GTX 750 would be good bet. Wont require any additional power and is about a powerful I would go with that CPU.

The gtx 750 can be bought in low profile form. Overclockers.co.uk sell one branded by KFA2

you may better see if dell allows for you to do that upgrade most walmart computers have a locked bios to prevent this to protect there product from tampering and undue warranty claims theres a lot of folks crying here at toms that there nice card wount install on those types of computers and there out... ya I been told I'm a dumb ass but then my stuff works and there still crying

but you need to find and see if that one you got will for sure take that card before you spend on it I mean solid proof it will not folks just saying ya ya ya it will.. the ball is now in your court ... good luck

Dells are fine with graphics card upgrades (assuming you bear in mind the form factor and psu).

it may work[????] its a roll of the dice with them but I would not risk it ... I see too many that don't and them guys are out money on a nice card that will not install them computer company like dell hp gateway got it all figured out and there not wanting you to upgrade but to buy a new computer of theres now if it don't work as I tell folks here where I am at is to replace the mo board with one like we get from newegg that's open to up grades most take a m-atx and reuse most everything else if it moer hier end parts [like if theres had a nice i5 or i7 all ready in there ''fixed'' board ]

also you can see if dell has a dell upgradeable card that theres to be used in there computer and guaranteed to work with there products [vid cards have biso to and there fixed to work with there computers ]

this is why we do custom builds cause there open to be upgraded with in there compatibly.
so if you want to go with that best solution that's cool all I can do is point this out to you so you can decide .... good luck

ya that's all cool, and as I stated above been called worse than that. but its not my cash , and in the end I really don't care all I can do is point this out to the guy and then its all up to him.. if he goes with it and it works then its all good ,and if it don't then he cant cry about it . the ball is in his court all I can do is explain what I did to him and he has to decide on where to go next

like this guy

so as I said good luck
