I bought a Dlink router a few days ago. I cannot access the FTP server provided by the ISP. They are telling me I should have bought a TPlink router. Is there any possible way round ?

Thanks in advance

Trying to connect via the browser. My ISP is saying that they are using tplink router to host their server so I cannot get access to it unless mine is TPLink too.

Let me explain the whole thing :

I used to download from the ISP's local server through LAN. Then I bought the router and connected the ethernet cable to the WAN port . And everything messed up. I am not sure if my ISP is good at networking and stuff like this

What did you do in order to connect to the ISPs FTP server?

Are you accessing an FTP server hosted by your ISP, or are you accessing your files at home via FTP from a remote connection?

TP-Link has USB ports that alllow you to setup an FTP server for it, but should be able to configure your computer to connect no matter what router model it is.

Unless the is some specialty configuration that tp-link has, there is no reason why it would only work with tp-link routers.

Do you have an ip address, a username, password and port number of the ftp server. You should be able to use an ftp client program to access the server.

I used to type this IP in the browser "http://10.114.200.11/" . I never used any password and it does not need you to register an account.

I tried to access the ftp using filezilla but it could not connect. Now I am confused because of the http marker before it. Is it really an ftp server ? :??:

And to get it straight I am using a connection from their LAN to my router's WAN right ? Does it have anything to do with it ? Does it cancel high speed file sharing I used to do via LAN ?
