Best non-reference r9 290x?

Now that the price has come tumbling down from the stratosphere can anyone please give me an idea on which 290x I should be spending my money on?

With the windforce cooler? Not reference? Because the temperature target is set to 85c on that thing. Because I really regret buying the windforce cooler since the other versions seems to be even cooler. However Gigabyte was first on the market at the time so I can't really blame myself.

I'd go with Sapphire since the msi lighting costs a lot more, and you can always overclock to get it's performance.
yes, but also the ASUS Direct CU II is also superb, cooling is actually better. The Lightning is clocked 40Mhz on the core clock more, but the Asus is easily clocked to that level also.

I have my Gigabyte Windforce 3X OC R9 290X stable at 1295Mhz on the core clock! Some overclock for that card indeed.

What temperatures were you getting on load with that card, I have the windforce too and I hit around 84c on load without overclocking. The Sapphire ones and powercolor are just above the 70's..
