Hi,

I was receiving a 'Limited or no connectivity' error so I manually specified an address as advised at http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/faq/id-1928682/limited-connectivity-resolve-problem.html.

Now my status is connected but I still cannot connect.

Please help!

Thanks for the reply.

The problem is fixed now. My father unplugged and plugged the cable into the router downstairs and the connection is normal again. Not sure now if I have a router in my room, maybe it's just a hub?? :-\

Thanks for the responses anyway.

Go down to the network icon next to the clock, right click, and click troubleshoot. You can also open a command prompt as administrator and type "netsh winsock reset" (no quotes) and "netsh winsock reset catalog" and reboot.

I ran 'ipconfig /all' at the command line, here are the results:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix:
Description: SiS 900 PCI Fast Ethernet Adaptor
Physical Address: 00-10-5C-E9-A9-51
Dhcp Enabled: Yes
Autoconfiguration Enabled: Yes
Autoconfiguration IP Address: 169.254.121.58
Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0
Default Gateway:

I am using Windows XP SP3. Have ruled out a bad router port and cable. Have power cycled. Uninstalled and reinstalled the Network Card. Specified a manual address and still cannot connect.

PLEASE HELP!

169.x.x.x is a default IP address you are not truley connected to your router.

Did you check the IP of your router before you changed your settings. Different routers use different IPs so the one in the tutorial might not the one your router uses. Tell us in detail everything that you did.
