Best monitor for gaming & picture quality?

Hello everyone!

im getting tired of my 1080p/60hz TN monitor and can't decide which type of monitor i should pick.

Im a all-rounder when it comes to games and i think getting a PLS or IPS panel might be something i would really love using.
But i never really tried any type of higher end monitors, PLS, IPS, 144hz, 1440p, 2160p never tried any of those so I'm not sure what to buy.

I've been looking at the ASUS PB278Q and ASUS PB287Q, the first being a PLS 1440p monitor and the latter a 2160p TN monitor. But im unsure which one would give the best picture, the detailed 2160p TN or the PLS colored 1440p?

right now im leaning towards 1440p since im going to run the 4K at a 150% scale in windows anyways, but games and pictures & videos would still be more detailed. But on the other side the 4K has a 1ms GTG and every 1440p out there has at least a 5ms GTG.

If you have any suggestions for good monitors then please tell me!
Im buying from Denmark in Europe so don't bother with any discounts you may find (like the PB278Q on newegg right now).

any answers are highly appreciated! :)

If you are considering gaming on a 4K monitor, you better have some serious GPU power, like dual 290X's. 1440p will be quite a bit more demanding as well, so you would need a really good card to be able to play on Ultra with acceptable fps.

Personally I prefer a 1080p 144hz 1ms monitor, but I also play FPS games often. It is just a much better experience playing on a gaming oriented monitor compared to playing on an IPS (more input lag) or larger 60hz screen. 144hz refresh rate and low input lag makes you feel extremely connected to the game. But if you don't game often, the benefits of having a 1440p IPS for browsing and movies would be nice.

I do game a bit but i don't play that much fps anymore, i have a R9 290 and would want to play at medium if i whent with the 4k. Maybe crysis 3 and metro in 1080p mode.

If you really want something that looks good and can perform as a gaming monitor then you should go with the QNIX QX2710 Evolution II http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BUI44US.

The QNIX is a 1440p IPS panel monitor with a great picture quality with a high resolution. The kicker is that you can overclock the monitor to over 100Hz fairly easily and it's also not going to break the bank to obtain.

I've heard a bit about these overclockable monitors, and this monitor is especially appealing since i could get a slice of every type of monitor in this, both 1440p, IPS and a fast hz.
Though i don't think anyone are selling monitors like this and the catleap in Europe. I'll have to stick to some of the bigger brands. :(

I'm sure there are plenty of other places to find them, but since I am from the US I am not familiar with european retail sites.

wow they even ship the Qnix for free... I do have a bit more throw at a new monitor, what would you pick if we went a bit up i budget? Is it even worth going any higher? This seems to be my dream monitor if i can OC it to 100hz, 1440p IPS or PLS (they say PLS on the ebay page?)

I do know the procedure of overclocking monitors, since i tried for my boring 1080p, which can't even run downsampling ^^

EDIT: how doyou think it compares to a catleap? I actually found one on ebay.co.uk (didn't even think about using that website, silly me)

Going up in budget, you aren't really going to find a better monitor (until the £330 range), but you do get better support.

If something ever happens to the QNix and you need to send it in for repair/replacement, it's going to be expensive. I just saw a post today where the person received a defective QNix. It's a gamble.. if you get a working screen that lasts a long time the value is outstanding.

I honestly don't know much about most 1440p monitors, so I don't have any other suggestions. I tend to stay away from IPS monitors because they are not as good for gaming as a 144hz TN panel. I have a cheap IPS for my secondary monitor, but I would never consider an IPS for my primary gaming monitor. But for people who care about color quality, they probably don't share my view.

I myself also like the ide of high hz, though the downsides like 1080p and only medicore color reproduction compared to IPS are too much for me. I really want a higher resolution and panel in this upgrade.
The Qnix seems to be a nice choice in between the 1440p vs 1080p 144hz monitors, i even found a German retailer on Ebay.de at the same price, which is even closer to Denmark then. (still perfect pixel, matte , 1 year warranty, and tested panel.)

My finger is itching on the buy button now. Especially with the big price difference from a ASUS PB278Q. :)
EDIT: i only have to overcome the ugliness of this monitor, then i'll buy it, i think. :p

I would go for it. Plenty of people buy the QNix panels.
