My Desktop computer has a 2.5" hot swap slot. I was wondering if i put it in the hot swap slot if it will work as an extra HDD that i can access like a usb or boot from? That would be very helpful. If not i will probably just buy a laptop HDD to data converter. Sorry for the nooby question. Thanks for the help.

The computer bios has to have that sata port connected to your hot-swap in AHCI mode, and some boards also require you to set that port as an "external" in order to enable hot swap ability.

Laptop drives are smaller then desktop drives, so if the hot-swap bay is for a desktop it might not fit. ICYDOCK makes a 2.5" to 3.5" adapter that makes it sized to be a desktop drive. I use one for the hot-swap in my server tower and it has always worked great.
