Yes you can. Do you have both the 6/8 pin ports on the card connected to your PSU? What is the make/model of the PSU? Is your monitor set to the same input as your card's output; HDMI, DVI, VGA?

You didn't answer whether or not you have both the 6 pin and 8 pin header powered on the card. Both have to be fed before the card will work.

If this is your PSU: http://www.box.co.uk/750W_Ace_Value_Black_PSU_24_Pin_wi...
... it would be my first suspect for the problem. It is rather poor quality and not a true 750W unit with only 2 x +12 rails rated at 22A each. Plus, it only comes with a single 6 pin PCIe cable... another give-away that it is low powered.

I would first make sure your motherboard has the latest BIOS installed: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M5A78LMUSB3/HelpDesk_D...

Then uninstall any Catalyst gfx driver and run Driver Sweeper form Safe Mode. http://www.techspot.com/downloads/4266-driver-sweeper.h...
Have it remove any AMD and Nvidia graphic driver remnants it can find.

Then reboot and run CCleaner to clean up any Registry errors and other crap that may be causing software conflicts: https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner

Lastly, install the latest driver again for your card and OS.
