I've been wanting to buy 2 120Hz monitors for a while now and since my TV which i used as a second monitor broke down last night i thought this to be the opportunity i needed.

The problem is that i don't know jack about monitors, but i do know from recommendations and trying my friends monitors that i would love to have 120Hz monitors.

The question i've been wondering about is if my machine is powerful enough to do so.
Here's my specs:

GFX:7950 Radeon XFX ghost overclocked edition

CPU:AMD FX 8350 eight core processor.

Ram: 8GB

Current monitor: AOC e2243FW

Hope you guys can help me make up my mind about this particular problem, if any of you have suggestions or other solutions to this problem please feel free to leave a comment.

I will respond as soon as possible.

Yeah, the second monitor bares uses any performance. I'd say 1-3fps loss if the second screen has a regular website up, or monitoring prorams. If flash player is being used on the secondary monitor, like a twitch steam or youtube, then the loss is a little more.. probably around 4-10fps loss. It's not very significant.

Why two 120hz monitors? Do you have a third to pair them with? If you are trying to do multiple monitor gaming, using 2 monitors is not ideal because your cursor (if FPS) would be right in-between both monitors.

If you are only going to be gaming on a single monitor, then you should only get a single 120hz+ monitor, and a secondary IPS for browsing/videos. I think this is the best setup to have.

A good 120hz+ monitor is the ASUS VG248QE.

The HD 7950 won't be able to play current-gen games at 80+ fps on Ultra, you would have to drop the settings down to high and maybe a couple extra settings down to be able to play at 100+ fps. It depends on the game though.. if you play cs:go you wouldn't have any problems getting 144fps.

Thanks for the response, it been very helpful a couple of questions tough.

You say a good idea is to get a single 120Hz monitor like the ASUS one you said, but would my graphics card be able to run 2 monitors if i use my current monitor the AOC e2243Fw together with a 120Hz monitor.

FYI i don't play battlefield 4 or anything like that, the most current game I've shown interest in is CS:GO

Thanks a lot for you're help in this terrible time of being confined to 1 monitor, but if you could answer this last final question i would be most grateful.

The monitor you suggestion seems like the monitor for me but I've heard in a review that i need to use dual link dvi-d cable for the monitor, and since as i said i know jack shit about monitors i hope you can help me figure out if my GFX can display a monitor with a dual link dvi-d and a normal dvi input from my current monitor at the same time.

I hope you have not grown tired of my helplessness in this field but i assure you that if there is anything i can do to make it up to you for the help you have given me i would do so gladly.

Yeah, it will be able to.

You will have to buy a DVI to HDMI cable. You will use this cable from your current monitor (DVI) to yourvideo card (HDMI port).

When you get the VG248QE, it comes with a dual link DVI cable. You will use this to connect the monitor (DVI-D) to the video card (DVI-D).

so essentially:
AOC e2243Fw (DVI) --> GPU (HDMI)
VG248QE (DVI-D) -->GPU (DVI-D)
