So i'm running an AMD 8120 with an R7 260x 2GB video card and 1333 8 GB 99924 RAM (took this RAM out of my old comp while waiting for my Hyperx to come in). When I overclock it over 3.4 my graphics on games i try to run goes really slow...to the point of 25-30 fps. I'm not sure what to adjust to fix this? Anyone got a clue.

Could be a lack of power--what power supply brand and model do you have and how old is it? What FPS are you getting with the 8120 at stock?

I'm rocking a Raidmax Hybrid 730 W. The power supply isnt even a month old. Not sure if motherboard helps but i'm rocking a Gigabyte 990FXA UD3. I'm FPS's at around 90 at stock.

Hmm, that PSU should be delivering plenty of juice...

And your mobo has a robust power delivery system so I don't think it's holding your CPU back.

Only thing I can think of is temperatures--if the 8120 gets too hot it'll throttle its speed waaaaay down or restart to prevent damage to the CPU. That may be what's happening. What CPU cooler are you using? If it's the stock AMD cooler then I'd definitely bet that your CPU is thermally throttling as the stock cooler isn't designed for ANY overclocking.

If you're getting 90fps why overclock?

I'm running speed fan and i did a test all the way up to 4400mhz where after that it got unstable but it never reached over 52 degrees C. Ive got a cooler master 212 evo. I just want to be able to figure out the issue cause i would like to do video editing on it soon.

So it's not cooling. Honestly, the number of cores matter more than their clockspeed for editing. I wouldn't even mess with an overclock as stability is key when editing and rendering.

Keep it at stock, if your games run really slowly after the overclock may mean it is unstable.
