hey i have have 4770k OC@ 4.6 with a h100i cooling it. the cpu used to run at about 29-31 degrees Celsius without load and about 58-60 degrees Celsius under load. i was playing smite the other day and i got the blue screen and after i while i figured out that my system was running too hot. when i check my temps the system is running at 40-44 C without load and 80+ with small load like smite. i have ordered a new thermal paste to try to reapply it. i was wondering if there is anything else i can do while i was waiting for the paste to arrive. or if anything else might be causing the problem

Solution
1. Do an antivirus scan and run an anti-root kit software like malwarebytes (https://www.malwarebytes.org/) it is possible that a virus is causing load.
2. Check for dust and clean if required
3. If none of that works lower your clock speed and voltage

Get some canned air and in short burst blow out the fins of the heat sink. My 4770k is OC'd to 4.6 Ghz and doesn't get that warm under load and I'm on an air cooler. You may want to give your cooler a good look.

i have blown out the rad which didn't have much dust in it, i also ran the malware program. and the rad pump seems to be working fine. i guess the only thing left to to is reseat the cooler once the thermal paste arrives
