Hey all. I'm building my first gaming PC, and I would love everyone's input on my build. This is just a build I put together after skulking around for a while, and it would be much appreciated if you could point out any costly issues or bottlenecking.

Processor: Intel Core i7-4770K

Motherboard: ASUS Z87-EXPERT

GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Ti Superclocked

SSD: Samsung Electronics 840 EVO-Series 250GB

RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB Single

Fan: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO

Hard Drive: WD Blue 1 TB Desktop Hard Drive

Case: Cooler Master HAF 912

Power Supply: FirePower OCZ ZT Series 550W

Optical Drive: Samsung Electronics SATA 1.5 Gb

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! :)

Looks like a great high end build. You could save a lot of money for almost identical performance though, if that's something you would like.

An i5-4670k would be perfect.

ASRock Extreme4 is a great motherboard

(Not cost savings, but I would get a 2x4GB set of RAM for dual channel performance. Won't increase performance in gaming too much, but will help overall)

With that money saved (around $150 or more) you can get a better CPU cooler and overclock the i5 even further :)

The i5-4670 was actually the recommended processor for the skeleton build I looked at. What would be the difference between the i7 and the i5? I'm trying to make this build be relevant in the future so that I won't have to build another one anytime soon: Would the i5-4670k fulfill that as well?

What better cooler would you recommend?

The i5 definitely would, especially for $100 less. The i7 is a great CPU, don't get me wrong, but it's more geared towards multi-tasking, and heavily threaded applications.

With the $15o saved ($180 if you take off the EVO) I would get the Noctua NH-D14 and still have over $100 left over. The D14 is very quiet, and cools just about as well as the all-in-one liquid coolers out there. The D14 is good for an overclock of 4.5 or so, depending on your individual chip. And best of all, it's so freaking quiet lol
