Hey all

built my own rig 3 years ago

spec
biostar Tp67xe mobo
intel 2500k
gtx 560 ti
coursair gs 800w
8gb 2x4 ripjaw x g skull
coursair hydro h60 ( set up with push pull fans )

Problem last night went on the computer (i leave it one most of the time apart from night temp never gets above 60 only with games )

loaded up planetside2

computer shuts down off

i turn it back on ( no beep ) loads fine go though windows 2 min later shuts down again

tried again same thing happened.
-----------------------------------------------------

then turn it on nothing to screen no life ( BUT computer stays on )

i have
removed g card and put back in
removed battery
removed ram
removed psu
unplugged everything still no life
on the mobo where it tells me the temp code says ( 1f or if )
checked this on there website nothing listed cant find anything on net.

screen works fine so not that.

im baffled --- the gpu is not happy hasent for a while one fan has stopped spinning and the other is slow but reasonable. so that might be the problem but then why the error code on mobo?

anyway when i turn it on hhd sounds like it boots normally and everything.

sorry for writing so much i hope someone can help me out.

ps slight dust over psu and gpu but nothing on mobo

Your graphics card has two DVI ports. The LCD display should also be set to the correct display port. The settings should be at the right side (or bottom) of the display.

Try a different port . Shut down the computer, turn the power OFF, change to a different DVI port, then turn the power ON and start the computer.

Set the LCD display to the correct display port.

Let me know the results.

I'm trying to understand what you're saying here. Are you saying that if you hook up your tower to your laptop you get video but if you hook it up to your desktop display (eg monitor or television) you don't get any video output? If this is the case then there 's probably an issue with your display. If you have an HDMI cable handy try using that. I'd then try using an HDMI on a television and see what happens.
I repair computers for a living and whenever a system doesn't display video its usually (but not always) one of three things, in order:
1. Power Supply
2. Motherboard
3. CPU
Unfortunately it's hard to diagnose problems at home since you don't have a pile of spare parts that you can use to eliminate potential problems. Like other have said the very first thing to do is try another PSU because 99% of computer problems seem to stem from bad PSU's. Next I'd try removing the GPU and using the motherboards on board video to see if there's any thing showing up. I wouldn't get to hopeful about that though because while bad GPU's happen it's a lot rarer than the other problems and you'll usually be able to at least post with a bad GPU. One thing that works once in a while on brand new builds that either don't have or lose video during setup/testing is to re-seat the CPU. I've only seen this work in a handful of builds that come in for repairs though and it's not something a novice should try because if you put the CPU in wrong a whole lot of problems can happen.

hi sorry i been away.

there is nothing wrong with the display as i have it runing with my mac laptop at the moment

back to the computer

i hvent got any spare parts but i will go to my mates who has a rig and use some of his bits and see what is going on.

what i dont understand is if it was the psu surely it would not power on and stay on like it is ?

example

it switched off 3 times each booting into windows then 1 min shuts down.

now there is no life to the display

but the computer stays on .... i have tried contacting bio star and i must say they are the worst compay i have ever delt with. shocking customer service
