Okay, A10 5800K, had it for two years, three questions.

Any reliable programs to monitor the APU temps, as it is a GPU and CPU?
I have HWinfo64 and I see a few different CPU temps, CPU temp, CPU temp 0, etc. Which one do I go by?
Won't my system shut down if it gets over a certain temp?

Thanks. Add any info you think is necessary. Any questions I will be happy to try to answer with further details.

I've built with several AMD APUs and Athlon X4s. They all have one thing in common. Screwy temp readout. The problem seem to stem from the fact that the sensor isn't accurate until it reaches a certain temp. But if you use a pgm like HWMonitor, it should show the core temps which are what you really want anyway.

In HWM, TEMP0 is the socket temp, which will be slightly lower than the actual core temp(s).
Most processors don't shut down at high temp, they simply throttle down their freq to a low enough speed to lower the temp to a safe level... if all is working as it should. If that fails to do the job, then shut down would follow.

So, which area should I look at for a reasonably accurate CPU temp? I don't do anything that should overheat it. I have an aftermarket cooler, while not the best, its a GeminII Heatsink and fan, the S524 I think, and I have two intake fans (AF120's) and one exhaust in back, and one in top. The most intensive thing I do is moderate gaming on Diablo 3 or world of warcraft. Under hardware info, the sensors, I have CPU 0, CPU 0 Package, and those are under CPU #0, and then I have an ITE IT8728F and under that it shows CPU and Motherboard, lol, which CPU do I look at? The highest temp? As of right now, just web surfing, the CPU 0 is 31C, the CPU 0 Package is 78C, and the CPU is 46C. I'm confused with this stuff lol. And lastly, are HWMonitor and HWiNFO the same thing? Because I found two seperate programs online.

I have a 5800K also, and this should answer it perfectly:

My temps are VERY similar to yours and I eventually just gave up. I use a quality Cooler Master TX3 cooler along with Artic Silver 5. I went with the advice from the above link, saw those numbers, and decided that I was okay and that I wasn't going to worry if HWMonitor hits 102C (mine really did) at core temp because the CPU would've turned off long before 102C.

Good luck!
