New to PC Gaming, wondering if this is a good build.

Hi, I'm wanting to build a PC over the summer. I've done a lot of research about building and I think that my build will work, but I would like some professional input on it. I'd appreciate it if anyone could point out any parts that may potentially be incompatible so I can edit my list some. Thanks!

not a fan of the PSU, in account of reports of likely failure within the year. the CPU's a bit too much for gaming alone, you're better off getting a 4670K and allocate that fund to a better quality PSU. tier 2 should be your minimum; http://eggxpert.com/eggxpert/computer_hardware/f/135081/t/45344.aspx

consider checking ram prices at PCpartpicker. there's a deal every day, with DDR3-1600 2x4GB CL9 usually costing anywhere south of $65.

I'd wait for the Nvidia 880...

Also, a 120/256 SSD would go a long way to improving the general usage of the computer

Summer is a bit of a ways out .... be much new stuff by then.

CPU - If this is a gaming rig, I'd drop to the 4670k and put the $100 towards an upgrade to a MSI 780

Case - At $80 this is a far better case than the Thermaltake....the black one is same price with the special coupon code.

PSU - Im not a fan of the CX series PSUs. No good deals on the 10.0 performance rated HX850 or Seasonic X-850 so I'd recommend the $99 XFX Core Edition 850.... and yes the 850 not the 650 as it's just a few bucks more and it will allow a future 2nd GFX card in SLI.

MoBo - This G45 has won over 4o awards and is a superb gaming board .... it's $45 more but ya get $31 of it back in this combo....and yes also supports 2nd card in SLI.

RAM - the RAM in the above combo is faster than what's in ya list. It's also $17 cheaper meaning ya get a huge MoBo upgrade, a RAM upgrade and ya saved $3 overall.

HD - I see ya budget didn't allow for a SSD so the enxt best thing is a SSHD....for $20 more, ya can have a HD with a little SSD built in.... boots windows almost a second slower than a tier 1 SSD .... have two here in the office, no one can tell the difference between the machines with SSD + HD and one with SSHD without taking out a stopwatch or running a benchmark.

GFX....I favor the Asus 780 Ti w/ a water block myself but the MSI is $50 cheaper and clocked at 954 MHz compared tot eh Asus' 889 MHz.

I'd want a CPU cooler.... if there's $75 available in the budget, the Phanteks PH-TC14-PE is the consensus favorite. If $30 is all that can be spared, the Hyper 212 but be careful not to overtighten as you can warp / crack ya MoBo.
