Hey guys I'm looking into building a gaming PC and was wondering what the straight up best gaming CPU is. Don't really have a budget but don't make it some insane $1000 CPU.

Depends on what you want to play.

If it's as future proof as possible, with no budget, then i7-4770 (if you're not overclocking you don't need the k. If you want/plan/think you ever will, then pick the k).

If you're not trying to spend that much and still want to game then you can go i5-4670 or i5-4570 (again if you're not planning on overclocking, you don't need k)

You are correct. its just when answering questions like that is good to guide people a bit. We do this to help people make informed decisions and the more info we can give them the better those decisions will be. it is better but its so marginal its not worth it and that's the important follow up that he might have not of thought to ask.

I agree and usually do except for these "What's the best" questions because that's usually all they care about.

Apparently, the i7 4790k will have a stock turbo speed of 4.4ghz!!
