Future Proof and Good?

Solution
You're good.

other's might try to sway you to intel, but for under 800, with what you already have, you'd probably break budget for lower parts.

Do you have a monitor, keyboard, mouse and windows 7/8 already? Can't forget those.

That leads to another question I have. I have a monitor, but it is an old Dell - E228WFP back from 2006. (So is my Inspiron 530, the one I'm using right now). Does anyone have ideas for monitors under 130$ that can produce good graphics, or is the one I have right now good enough?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009437

let's you play 1920x1080 @ 21.5in.

However, no HDMI. Didn't know what your input connection was.

And he's right, technically. Games aren't as prone to use the 6 cores (BF4 might, maybe Watch Dogs) but as I said, it's going to be more expensive for intel hardware

Would my monitor play games as well as this one?

I could go with the AMD 8320 if I wanted to. I just figured that with the money I saved, I could put it to a better monitor. I'm not trying to use up to $1,000 on a gaming rig when I have more things I could but with that kind of money. :D Do you guys have any builds for $800 you'd like to share?

So you are saying that I should get 4 cores instead of 6? What about 8? Heh, I'm searching for thoughts and ideas.

Seeing as the older monitors you have are at a lower resolution natively, yes this one would play better. You can find a "gaming" monitor, but unless you're a stickler for refresh rates and pixel density, a common eye won't miss anything. Only thing is that the monitor I'm recommending has poor viewing angles, so unless you're playing from a seat in line with it (as opposed to off to the side, or it on a shelf above you) I would look into other models. You can find a lot under 130.

The thing about the 4 cores from intel is that they have hyperthreading. If you have enough to get a fx 8320 (which I was considering for my summer upgrades myself) go with this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116898. It's more expensive, but you can keep it under 1000.

also, are you planning on overclocking?

I'm no competitive gamer, all I need is to actually be able to play the games at a solid frame rate. I can't even play Assassin's Creed on my computer due to the horrible graphics card etc. Do you guys have any suggestions to the parts list I showed? I really like it since it's recently dropped from $830 with the mail in rebates. Anyway, thanks for the help. Again, with that CPU, 4-6-8 cores?

Probably no overclocking. Not upgrading it also. I need a solid build so I could play some games with friends.

I don't have a timeline, just a patience level. I've been researching the best for the money parts in my budget for months now. That build looks good, just seems way out of budget when I add a monitor to the mix. I will honestly stick with the AMD Fx 6300 and see where that takes me. If you do have something against the 6300 vs Intel, please inform me. Also, what if I went with the AMD Fx 8320(8 core). Is that any better? Again, just looking for a good deal for good fps.(50+)

With that parts list you gave me, I would have to stick with the monitor I have with me. To even out the prices. Again, it is the E228WFP. I don't know it's value or specs compared to newer versions.
