Recently i decided to get the BenQ XL2420Z, loving the screen, set it up as my main monitor running on 144hz, with on the side a 60hz screen.

Now I only have some odd problem occuring with the setup, they are both connected to my gpu (Amd radeon hd 7970) of wich im sure should be more then capable of using a dual monitor setup, through the dvi slot for the benq, and the mini connector to dvi aswell for the one on the side.

Now when im playing games and such for no matter how heavy they are and how long i play them i'm not running into any problems, the only times this occurs is when i am opening certain programs such as skype and sometimes a browser or other things, where only my main display bugs out, and shows horizontal lines of the opened program all over the screen. closing it wont make them go away nor dragging it off to the screen on the side. i have to turn off my second screen, wait for the desktop to pop back only to the main one and then i can turn it on again making it all go back to normal.

This is slowly turning more and more frustrating as i cant seem to figure out where the problem is occurring, is it the monitor? my gpu? some program running in the back causing it? or just simply a windows 7 issue.

things i've tried:

- my second display setup through a hdmi connector, or not directly to the video card itself but to the desktops connector self
- changing the refresh rate of the monitors
- updated all the latest drivers

Hoping someone out there might be able to find a solution for this, and hope that I've been descriptive enough of what the problem is, but if there's any other info i could provide I'll be happy too.

Edit:

So i went ahead and switched the cables of the monitors but no difference, set my 60hz monitor as main, but the horizontal line issue still only happens at the benq one. Also changed the slots of the cables without any luck.

sometimes it even goes so bad that its the full screen with flickering horizontal lines and at the bottom vertical ones, that it wont go away and im forced to restart my pc.

problem is, whenever using the screen standalone there are 0 issues at all, everything works fine, could this be windows 7 having problems with dealing with a 144hz and a 60hz setup? I'm at loss.
no clue what it could be :/

Edit2:

Getting my whole screen ending up in these horizontal vertical lines now that you usually see at gpu problems, thing is, it never happens under heavy tasks, but only when for example opening a certain game page in steam, opening a certain website (wildstar's seems to be occuring it now and then) and its totally random because it doesnt always happen)
