So I got a refurbished P75-A7200 and have been enjoying it ever since. But during a dust cleaning of the underside I discovered a stick of silent talent 1600 DDR3 (8GB) RAM half way in the socket. So I put it in all the way and get the fans, a beep and nothing else, take out the RAM and it boots just fine, so what is my problem? my computer has an 8gb stick in it but its DDR3(L), would that make the difference and since the silent talent is worth 7o bucks should I have it tested at a repair shop (does Best Buy do this?) and sell it if it won't go in my computer?

Thanks and have a good summer!

Hi Landmine
with the ram halfway out of the slot you may have damaged the ram or the memory slot , does the other ram work in that socket ?
if it does the socket is fine , if you swap the ram with the other stick does it still boot ?

The ram has to be low voltage (1.35). Most of the times it has a letter " L" somewhere in the name. When you buy it, do it by entering the laptop information. Reputable places like Crucial, Kingston, etc. will always give you the right choices.

I know this is a very old thread but I still have this Laptop and have had it since 2011. I ran into a similar issue about two years ago while updating the BIOS. It seems that if you use the additional ram slots that you cannot upgrade past the V 1.10. When I did the laptop would not boot and acted like the ram was bad, then I would remove it and it booted just fine I reverted the bios and the RAM was accepted and I currently run 24 GB or ram. I haven't really found much help as to the exact location of the other 2 slots so that I can put 32 in it. I have honestly just been really slack with it, but the 2 ssds I installed took my boot time to about 5 seconds from off. I plan on checking this weekend if Toshiba has an updated BIOS that will allow the 4 slots use.
