I have a very old pc at the moment and I am in very much need of an upgrade. I am looking for a desktop that can run wow on the highest settings with no problem. Seeing how I won't be playing games that demand a lot, I don't need something insanely powerful. My budget is only around 600 at the moment. Can anyone help me with a pre-built pc that can do this for this price?

Powerful CPU and 8GB of RAM due to MMOs normally needing them to be pretty strong.

EDIT: Just noticed you said prebuilt PC, sorry about that. I'm not sure on good american websites that do them.

Hi Dylzan, I just found your PC build and am strongly considering to start ordering the parts. Are there any additional tips or info you could provide?? Thanks!

For what purpose do you need it? The same as the OP?

Correct. Primarily for World of Warcraft at the moment, with room to grow in the upcoming expansion. Perhaps down the line I will play some games on Steam, but WoW is my primary focus.

Again, I really like this build and the price. 8GB or RAM, 3.0 Ghz processing power/quad core processor and 1GB video card is more than I could imagine for only $600. The only thing I would wonder is whether or not I should dish out the extra cash for a 2GB video card.

ALSO: I don't know if this matters but I currently have a dual-monitor setup. One is DVI-D and the other is HDMI. However, I could probably swing 2 HDMI's for this new build. Does this require 2 video cards?

I've never build my own PC but I have the means and the confidence to do it. Any tips, hints etc in the build or buying parts would be helpful. I've created an account at pcpartpicker.com (username: puck20xx) and saved this build for reference. Thanks again!

You could get a 2GB card, but I'd recommend you get the 750 Ti 2GB instead (a bit more powerful).

Excellent. I'm ordering everything now. What are your thoughts on a cpu cooler?

But WoW is very CPU dependant, that's why I went Intel, as it's single core performance is a lot better than AMD's, plus can it really rely on GPU power so much? It's over 10 years old.

Thanks, TV. That looks solid. I'm close to buying! A few things:

The AMD processor comes with a AM3+ Socket CPU Cooler. Should I still order the CPU cooler from your build?

Your build had two compatibility notes on pcpartpicker.com:

- ASRock 970 Extreme3 R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard has an onboard USB 3.0 header, but the NZXT Source 210 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case does not have front panel USB 3.0 ports. The tower sports 2 USB 2.0 ports on the upper panel. (I'm looking to replace this with the NZXT H230 (Black) CA-H230I-B1. Would you agree?)

- Some AMD 970 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Vishera CPUs. (This won't be an issue because we're using an AMD+ CPU on a newer motherboard, correct?)

Thanks again for your help. My dreams are coming true this week!

An fx6300 will easily max Wow. Also WoW is not graphically 10 years old. It is a DX11, frequently updated game. It is just as modern as any NEW game being released.

That board does not need an update for that CPU. It will work perfectly fine. The board will come with the correct BIOS version already installed.

Some places sell the CPU without the cooler so when you buy it, make sure it says "boxed CPU and cooler" and you will not need a cooler.

That case is fine and feel free to change it is you REALLY want USB3 instead of USB2 on the front of the case.

It looks like the CPU comes with the cooler so I'll take that off the build. I'll keep the case since it won't cause any problems. Thank you!

FYI the motherboard on this build didn't supply power to anything. We tested the power supply on another board and everything came on fine.

I submitted an RMA and went for the ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0 AM3+ AMD 990FX instead. Hopefully this one works out for me!
