i have a sandisk 8gb cruzer blade that is write protected, how can i format it?

i tried to format but it keeps on saying write protected, i tried the D word formula but doesnt work

write protect is somehow the precursor to massive failure. Has happened many time for me. You may be able to format it after much effort, but the drive will break within a few weeks.

Copy all data from the usb stick and toss it. 8 gig drives aren't that expensive. I suggest the Toshiba transmemory series. super cheap and fast.

Lesson?
ALWAYS keep multiple copies of your data, and have multiple USB sticks just in case one craps out on you.

When the drive is write protected, you often cannot easily do any change to this drive, like copying, deleting or formatting.
So, in order to do your things smoothly, you need to remove the write protection at first.
