I am building a new editing/gaming rig soon. Although I will play games, I really want to know how the 8350 stacks up to the 4670k in editing. Even though it may seem like the AMD would destroy the i5 due to double the cores and a higher clock speed, after all of the gaming benchmarks I have seen so far, it seems like the intel is just an all around better processor. Price aside, how do they compare in an application like Adobe After Effects CS6?

The i5 beats the FX in gaming because most games only use 4 cores and the i5 has better performance/core. Editing software can use all 8 cores so the FX is the clear winner there.

If ur gonna be editing a lot, then FX 8350 is the best choice. In games, the fx 8350 lags only very slightly behind the i5 4670k. U wont even notice the difference. Get the FX 8350 or if u have a higher budget, get the i7 4770k. For editing it goes like i7 4770K > FX 8350 > i5 4670K and for gaming RIGHT NOW, it goes like i7 4770K > i5 4670K > FX 8350. In case of gaming, the performance of the FX 8350 may increase in the future than the i5 4670k bcoz games can start to use all cores (right now they're not using more than 4 cores). Since the i5 4670k beats the fx 8350 in per core strength, it dominates now but the fx 8350 MAY outperform 4670k in the future.
