Hi everybody. I posted once before about the parts that I'm going to buy soon for my first build. Here is the updated version: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3J8Hu

What's changed here are (1) from AMD A10 APU to the AMD Athlon X4 760K (2) my graphics card from GeForce GX 650 to the R7 260x and (3) I omitted the sound card since my mobo already has an okay one.

People say that I don't need a case fan controller and thermal paste. Can anybody validate this?

As for the PSU, I know I don't need 650W, but if anybody can recommend another PSU for me that's fully modular, that'd be great.

The CPU cooler comes with a thermal pad on the cooler, no need for thermal paste.
You only need a fan controller if you want to control the fan speed below the stock level.

Not sure about the quality of the power supply you have chosen.

Antec HCG520M is semi-modular:

You always need the 24-pin power connector for the motherboard anyway, so only an issue if you want to be able to remove the power supply with the cables in place for some reason.

There are fully modular options, but more expensive.

Your case comes with 140mm fans which run quiet. I see no need for a case fan controller.
See how you do first before paying for a solution to a problem you are unlikely to have.

The supplied cooler will include paste.

Your graphics card would run on as little as a 450w psu.
But, a larger size would run quieter and more efficiently.
Something in the 600w range will be able to handle a graphics card as good as a GTX780.
You can keel the evga 650w unit.
Personally, I find little value in gold rating or modular when on a budget.
Look at the Seasonic 620w unit for less:

As VincentP said, your stock heatsink will come with thermal paste already on it. I wouldn't recommend using it or the stock heatsink, but it will work perfectly fine if you want to save some money.

Good power supply means you don't fry $800 worth of parts.

As for full mod, you don't really need it. Semi mod works perfectly fine, trust me.

I use the Antec I listed, and it's amazing. Also, the diablotek case I listed is the one I used for my first build and the construction is awesome. Lots of room to work, and half the price of the enermax case.

Thanks for giving me more detail about the PSU I have chosen. i thought it was good, especially for its price. But seeing it as tier-3, I might just keep on looking for more PSU's. Unfortunately, I don't have time right now, and will be back in like 8 hours or so.

I see why you have chosen Seasonic 620W...It's also listed as tier 2 in Newegg...But I find that the PSU I have chosen is only about $10 more, and even though it's listed in tier 3, it still has respectable specs in comparison with the Seasonic.

I am going to use this rig for gaming. As for the PSU in your list, it costs about $12 more than the one I have chosen. The one I chose is also 650W, compared with 620W. I didn't get to check the website you linked because I'm running out of time. But perhaps you can explain to me more why you recommend the Antec you listed instead of the EVGA SuperNOVA in my list?

Mostly because I have experience with the antec I listed. It runs quiet and the stealth cable wrap it has on it is well done. I like the quality and the cables/connectors aren't cheap plastic parts.

Personal preference honestly.

The Antec High Current Gamer series is manufactured by Seasonic.
These are tier 2 in the list that I linked.
They are a quality power supply.

Athlon X4 760K has a TDP of 100W
R7 260X is rated at 115W
Allow 40W for other components
Total draw (mostly on the +12V rails) of 255W
You want to run your power supply at less that 80% of rated capacity, so you need a supply with minimum 27A on the combined +12V rails.

Antec HCG 520M rated at 40A on the +12V rail
Antec HCG 620M rated at 48A on the +12V rail

These are great supplies. The 520W is more than enough, running at only 53% of rated capacity under full load.
I would even recommend the Seasonic G 450 with a +12V rating of 37A but this supply is not modular.
