Hi there,

I am looking forward into buying 2x Corsair SP120 High Performance fans for my EVO 212 Heatsink, any cons about those fans? From what I have read, they seem pretty descent.

I also want to buy 2x Corsair AF120 High Performance fans to use them as top exhaust fans for my Corsair 300R case. They also look like pretty descent fans from what I've read.

I would like some opinions before buying. Maybe other suggestions too?

Thank you!

the best heatsink fans anywhere are probably scythe gentle typhoons (ap-15), of course scythe no longer makes the gentle typhoon (sub contract/patent stuff) so its starting to get a little hard to find them... Noctua fans are also extremely popular due to their very low noise levels, and extreme high quality.

The corsair fans are alright, though a little overpriced. They're pretty popular because of the multicolored rings they come with that you can decorate the fan with, and the solid performance. Overall if i was going to put those corsair fans on a evo, i'd probably get the quiet AF not the high performance SP ones... as those are really only needed for their high static pressure, which makes them ideal for a WATER cooling...

why do you need sp120's on your evo 212? It just seems odd to me to put $30 worth of fans on a cooler that only cost $30 to begin with.

what do you have on it now anyway? the stock fan plus another fan in 'pull' setup should be all that it needs

The EVO doesn't have tight enough spacing to call for dual pressure-optimized fans. Adding a second SP120 won't give you any better performance. A single high-performance SP120 would be plenty fine.

The AF120's are great fans for case airflow, just make sure you have plenty of intake so you stay in positive pressure.

You don't need high static pressure for an air-tower, so getting the high performance SP fans is sorta a mismatch.

So, to recap... if you insist on corsair fans for your Evo...

get the Corsair AF - Silence Edition fans; PWM versions would be ideal.

You might see 1C-3C difference using 2 fans... it probably isn't worth it overall. You can get the SP fans if you want, though the high static pressure isn't necessary for an Evo, and those fans tend to be louder then the AF fans.
