Recently my computer while running in Windows 8.1 randomly resets to 12/31/1899. This causes multiple programs to crash (ie. Batlle.net and TeamViewer). I've replaced the CMOS battery and the issue still occurs. The voltage is sitting at 3.3 and seems to be normal. I've already re-flashed the BIOS and did a CMOS reset after the battery change.

I am getting these in my Event Logs: Change Reason: An application or system component changed the time. Please let me know if there's anything else I can try or would you rule this as a faulty motherboard? Thank you for all your help!

Current Motherboard setup: Gigabyte Z87x UD4H w/ i5 4670k running the latest BIOS F9.

I've already re-installed the BIOS with the @BIOS utility. Would this be considered as re-flashing? I will use the backup BIOS and see if that corrects the issue. If the backup BIOS does work, how do I correct the main BIOS?

Any way you can identify the supposed application/component that is changing the time? have any apps that are set to run at a certain time, i.e.; defrag, drive scan, virus scan, etc, that might the culprit?

My first thought was to replace the battery but since you've already done that and it keeps resetting, you might want think about RMA'ing the board.

I have setup auditing to detect what application/service is changing the time and so far svchost.exe changes it by milliseconds. I will have to check what changed it back 12/31/1899 when I get home.

After checking the service audits on my computer (setup through GPO), it looks like Gigabyte App Center was changing the time. I uninstalled it and so far the time has not reverted back. I believe this started happening with the newest update that was released for their App Center.
