Will 2133MHz RAM work on a 1600MHz compatible motherboard?

The 2133MHz RAM is a little cheaper than the 1600MHz version, so if I choose the faster one will it work? I don't mind if it can only work at 1600MHz.

I'm running DDR3-2133 on my Rampage IV Extreme. The motherboard supports up to DDR3-2400, but the microprocessor is rated to only DDR3-1600. Configuring it is as easy as enabling the XMP profile (Intel platforms only) but I have to boost the memory controller voltage to get it to run stable.
