Problem with 7990?

So I got my 7990 and it is a beast, and it works, except the newest ati catalyst drivers do not work so well with it. At the moment I'm using 13.9. What I want to know is if there is a way to balance the GPU usage more evenly amongst the two GPU's, as I've noticed that GPU1 tends to have a lot more usage than 2, and even in some games GPU2 is not used at all. Any suggestions?

1) There's little you can do as it's all automatic.

2) IF a game supports Crossfire then GPU usage for the game on both GPU's will be almost identical. It has to because games use something called "AFR" or Alternate Frame Rendering. GPU#1 outputs a frame, then GPU#2 outputs the next frame then it repeats. The Video RAM for each GPU has the same data for the game (it's cloned) so each GPU is doing almost exactly the same thing, just staggered.

I'm not sure how you are monitoring the GPU's because with VSYNC OFF both should be close to 100% usage for a game that supports Crossfire.

That's the nature of Crossfire/Dual GPU cards I'm afraid, some games will run very well on both GPUs, some might use one a lot and the second one a bit and some will just completely ignore your second GPU.

thanks for your responses, I haven't tried that driver yet may give it a shot and updating to the newest catalyst actually causes more problems than it solves to be quite honest. I also set up custom game settings in CCC for crossfire.
