I'm building my first PC at the moment I have....

bitfenix ronin case
corsair vengeance pro 8gb blue 1866mhz
EVGA GTX 760 SC 2GB
1TB HD

I was going to go with asus Z-87PRO and i5-4670k haswell.
would it be better to get the boardwell? want a PC to last a few years and not much if any updating to be done if possible...

Solution
The Z97 motherboards just released.

IMO it makes no sense to go with Z87 as it won't support Broadwell if you want to upgrade in future. The only exception would be if you could get a really good deal on one.

I got a H87i-Plus motherboard on eBay for $25, and I am pairing it with an i3-4330. Now, two months after you wrote this post, has anything changed? With a BIOS update, will this motherboard be able to support Broadwell?

Thanks!

DDR4 will be too much expensive for the average citizen when it comes out, and games will only start using its potential in the future, 3-4 years. I would personally go with DDR3 and let DDR4 for the next build upgrade.
