I have a zalman z11 plus case. Since having it I've only removed the front twice however, the second time a couple of the cables have come away from the power button switch itself . I have tried re-soldering them back on but I think I have made a hash of it and don't quite understand how the switch works as although the button itself moves I can't quite make sense how this changes anything on the switch, as under the main button the switch is primarily just an LED with 6 legs coming from the bottom. I imagine 3 for the led and 3 for the power itself . Could somebody help me on how these switches work or an alternative or way of changing the power button perhaps ?

the Front Panel power switch is a momentary contact switch. Its no different that briefly touching two bare ends of wire together. In the case of the power switch one will be a 5v reference and the other will be ground. All the other wires are for something else, probably the led's as you said.
You can reference the motherbds FP header to see what color wires are for the switch itself. Its usually black and white one the ones (z11) i have used before. The Power LED is blue and white. HDD Led is red and white. White is ground ( - )by the way...
So thats probably the 6 wires you are referring to.
