Hi,
I currently use a Sapphire R9 290 Tri-X (it's just one card) with an iiyama ProLite E2607WS (1920x1200). When I play games like Warthunder I get FPS of anywhere from about 79-190+. My problem is that I see a lot of 'lag'. Not sure if that is the word, it could be called screen tear, or maybe input lag. The fact I don know how to describe the problem properly is, in itself, a problem. I tried switched in a test flight so I could get over 100fps and put V-sync on and it made very little if any difference.
If I wanted for everything to look smoother should I spend a lot of money on another graphics card to get even more fps or a 'faster' monitor.
The only thing I know about monitors is that some say they have 1ms response time but can also have significant lag input, or can have 7ms response time yet seem faster then a 1ms monitor.
If I was to buy a smaller 24 inch monitor with a faster refresh rate (120hz) then to get smooth game play would i need to match the fps with my graphics card or not?
Also what about with vsync on or off?
I dont want to spend more then about £250-300, but I want a smooth less eye straining experience.
Any and all advice is welcome please, especially any personal experience on monitor '60 to 120hz' upgrades.
-edit-
I also have a small 1280 x1024 monitor on same card always on and a plamsa tv, but the tv is 98% switched off.
