I'm finally posting a question after 10+ years of waiting in the wings!

I have 4 GB (4 x 1 GB) of G.Skill's best 184-pin DDR RAM that I'd like to experiment with rather than get rid of right now.
What are my options regarding motherboards that would take this DDR RAM and let me use it at its maximum potential? I'm not tied to one CPU manufacturer - Intel or AMD are both fine.

As a general guideline, I'm looking for boards that will support the fastest CPUs and give me the highest memory bandwidth with these older RAM sticks.
I'm open to desktop and server mobo ideas.

I know that ASRock offered one or more mobos using the Intel P865 chipset about 6 years ago - what are their names? And were these boards the end of the line for DDR?

Thanks very much!

DDR has been dead for years. DDR3 is the current RAM used and sold and DDR4 is around the corner. Your best bet is finding something old and used on ebay. You're not going to find anything new that uses DDR. Not for a long, long time.

You can likely find a new AMD s939 motherboard on eBay. Throw in an Athlon 64 X2 or dual-core Opty, and off you go.

Check the specs carefully -- most boards are likely to max at 4GB. You will likely need a 'Nix OS or a legit copy of XP.

Cheers, mate

Be sure to those CPUs are s939, too ... AMD had a run of 3 socket-types over a period of 3-4 years with 3 different CPU varieties :)
