Hello everyone.

I'm looking at these two CPUs for my new gaming PC but I can't decide which one to chose. The reason I'm between these two is because they are similarly priced and fit nicely in my budget. I will be using a GTX 760 graphics card with the CPU. I want to play games that are out at the moment like next car game,DayZ, Assassins creed black flag, Dirt showdown, Far Cry 3 and many more. I would like to play these games at high/ultra settings at 1080p. I also want to play games that will be coming out in the future .

Reasons I'm considering the AMD FX 8350
Some games I want to play have recommended requirements that say "Intel i7 or AMD bulldozer"
Higher clock speed
Will probably preform better in future games as they start to take advantage of more threads/cores
I can overclock it however I would be nervous about doing it manually because I have never overclocked before. is there any software that can do it for me?

Reasons I'm considering the Intel i5 4440
Slightly cheaper than the AMD FX 8350
It is on a new socket so it will probably be easier to upgrade in a few years as more CPUs use this socket.
Will probably have better performance in single threaded applications and games.

What one should I get for my new gaming PC.and what one will last me longer before needing upgraded?

Thank you for your help ::)

i5 4440. It will be better in the huge majority of tasks, including games.

Grab one of the new H97/Z97 motherboards to ensure you have an awesome upgrade path to Broadwell. H87/Z87 would just be limiting yourself now.

Get a 4670K, it will be best suited for your needs. Also, the i7 4770K and i5 4670K have the same gaming performance. The i7 has hyper threading which helps only with video editing.

Good job totally not answering OP's question and throwing out your own opinion...

personally i would go with the fx 8350 cos you can overclock, i think both cpus perform almost the same without oc, in same games the 1 is abit better in others the other 1. So its up to you. if you dont want overclock take the i5 cos as you said already you have more options to upgrade. if you OC the 8350 it will perform better.

In the end it's your decision:

i5-4400
*Faster at most games right now
*Uses lot less power (it does add up on your bill)
*Ability to upgrade to better CPUs (i7,Broadwell [if Z97], Xeon0)

FX-8350
*Slower at games now, but maybe will get better taken advantage of
*Better at intense mulittasking
*Ability to upgrade...? Not sure. (LIKELY a dead socket)
*Especially on OC, uses considerably more power... ($10-$40 a year)

I think that the better choice would have to be the i5. Most benchmarks have the i5 leading the FX-8350 leading by a considerable measure, besides video encoding and tasks that use many threads. In raw computing and gaming, the i5 takes the lead.

Even when the FX-8350 is using EVERY thread, the i5 is not far behind at all. You really cannot go wrong with the i5. It will save you money in the long run, provide a better path of upgrade-ability, as well as give you better performance in most tasks.

IF you can, get the i5-4670K or even a 4670 or 4570 (I think the 4570's price matches the 8350). That will make it an even better choice.

Hope I could help with your decision!
