Thanks in advance for reading this.

So I have looked around and can't find a definitive answer to the problem. I just assembled my first build in several years. Everything seems to be going well but when I tried to install Windows 8.1 from the disc it tells me that it can't find a storage device. The only SATA device that shows up in my BIOS is the DVD player. I have tested the DVD player on all the SATA ports that I tried to use for my drives and it works for it, just not my SSD or HDD. And when I am in Bios the red led next to the SATA ports is on. All 3 drives are connected with the same brand of new SATA3 cables. The Bios is not set in RAID and switching between AHCI and IDE didn't change anything. It's been a long time since I built a pc and I'm far from an expert so I guess I have to be missing something.
If you guys (and gals) can dumb down any answers I'd greatly appreciate it.

I was able to get through to an Asus tech online but they cut off the chat when I was shifting my SATA cables as I was instructed. I tried to call them, but after an hour on hold I decided to try posting here instead.

All items were purchased new except R9 270x.

System
Asus Sabertooth 990fx R2.0 Bios version 2103 x64
AMD FX 8320 Black Edition
2x4gb G.Skill Sniper Series 1600mhz
MSI R9 270x Gaming OC Edition
Antec HCG-750
Samsung 840 EVO 120gb SSD
WD Caviar Blue 1TB 7200 HDD
LG M-Disc DVD/RW

Currently (and in accordance with Asus tech D-Bag)
SSD - port 1
DVD - port 2
HDD - port 3

Reset the BIOS to defaults, then check again. The red LED isn't a good sign. Is the board mounted on standoffs or raised bumps, and is there a standoff only where there is a mounting hole? Is there anything foreign under or on the board, like a dropped screw?

I just set it back to default with the default button on the EZ Bios page. Don't know if that is correct but that what I did. No change. The motherboard is is mounted to the appropriate number of standoffs with no extras or missing ones. There is nothing behind the board. Thanks for the fast response

Also note that the Red LED is only on while in BIOS, not with trying to install windows. Just to be clear, it is the one to the left of the SATA ports and directly under the southbridge.
