I am building a computer soon. I am stuck in between the Samsung 840EVO 120GB or the Samsung 840EVO 250GB. I will store Windows 8.1 and some vital software/games on it. The 120GB costs $79.99 with the 250GB costing $139.99. Thanks!

Remember, as SSD's fill up past 70% they become much much slower.

Just to be safe, I would consider a 250 GB drive over a 120 GB drive.

Windows 8.1 + Office 2013 + patches is about 40 GB. Games, and other software plus installed software is going to put you close to 70% space utilization. Be safe and go with the larger SSD. The cost per GB is cheaper too.

I have a 120GB with Windows 8.1, LoL, Civ V, and a few other games. I also have Photoshop and a few other big applications. Currently I have 50GB left. That should give you a good idea, as long as you have a separate drive for movies/projects/etc.

Of course going for 250GB won't hurt. You won't have to expand the 120 when it gets full.

Why the 840 evo!? I would recommend another drive! But I digress...

If you are good at space management and keep most of your data (not OS or programs.) on USB memory or Hard drives, you can definitely live with 120GB. However, it will take effort. Yes, keep your games on the hard drive too. It will take longer to load them initially, but use that time to make yourself a cup of tea or read a book or something...

If you are richer than you are efficient, buy the 256.
If you are more efficient than you are rich, buy the 120.

You can buy how many movie tickets with $60? or games? or steaks? Think about it...
