Anyone know if I can install a trial version of windows 7 via usb/DVD tool and then am I able to use an oem key from another machine which is broken and parts have been sold

1. Yes

2. Maybe. The OEM license is tied to that original PC. You'll have to talk to MS, either via the phone robot or a human to activate.
They are often pretty lenient. But they are under no obligation to allow that.
