I have had this problem from the very beginning.

My computer always has a white noise on all audio outputs from the motherboard (sound works otherwise). I have already tried the following and all of them made no difference:

- tried included Realtek drivers, tried older Realtek drivers and tried the latest Realtek drivers
- removed the GPUs one by one (R9 280X and HD 5450)
- updated BIOS to latest version
- touched a wire connected to ground against various metal parts of the case

This noise appears once the OS is started. There is no noise before that (during boot), but I guess that is simply because nothing is using audio at that moment.

I have Windows 7 Professional x64. I also tried Ubuntu 12 and the exact same noise emerged.

The noise does go away if I set the Windows speaker output level to zero or press the mute button. When not muted however, the noise is always equally as loud, no matter what level I set it to.

There is very little noise in other outputs though. I used a VCR to check the TOSLINK output and it was clean, so was the HDMI output of the GPU (R9 280X).

The noise also changes when I play Windows sounds (?).

My motherboard is a P9X79 LE, PSU is a Corsair AX760.

Speakers are completely fine. I tested them on another computer and there is no noise whatsoever. Just to be sure I even tried headphones that are working perfectly fine and they got noise too.

Same noise comes from the rear output and in the front panel output as well.

I am out of ideas. What is wrong here?

Yes, the motherboard is grounded. I forgot to mention that I checked that too.

well if the motherboard is still under warranty suggest have it replace as soon as possible. since you already check for new driver and grounded your pc..it seems you board might be failing.
