Graphics card upgrading

Solution
There is a slight chance of bottleneck to occur. If you're willing to upgrade your CPU, get an high-end i5 fourth generation CPU like i5 4670(K) or i5 5690(K). You don't need an high-end i7 for gaming.

An i5-4690 would likely still be fine. It's a good 70% faster than his i7-920 in benchmarks.

Agreed, but both options are out there. It really just depends on OP's budget and current hardware.

The i7 920 is pretty much the first i7 using micro-architecture dating back to 2008....It is roughly 30-40% slower then it's Successor the i7 2600k. I would imagine that the GTX 780. 780ti and Titans will not perform 100% especially in CPU bound games such as Battlefield 3 and 4
