Lenovo G580 backlight

The backlight on my Lenovo G580 laptop does not work off the battery only if pluggrd into the main electrical supply

Hi, with just the battery connected, hard disk, fan and lights all work, just the backlight is off. So you should see a faint image on the screen, if you look at the screen at an angle. Is this what happens?

And if you connect the adapter, your laptop works alright.
