hey i am installing windows on a old pc to sell can you help me becuse when ever i try and install th os it says 'reboot and install proper boot device' please help asap, thanks.

What yre you using? A CD? Is the BIOS set to boot from CD? Can you get a 'one time boot menu'
If you are using a proper CD ´you will get a message to press any key to boot from the DVD/CD.
What sounds like is happening is that it's trying to boot from a hard drive with no OS installed. Or whatever you are booting from is not bootable.
