Radeon 7970, win 8.1 pro: PC doesn't boot with TV (turned off) in 2nd hdmi

Hi all,
As soon as I plugged in my TV into my Radeon 7900s second hdmi port, my computer simply refuses to post. My monitor is 'on' but there's just nothing being displayed and it never seems to actually boot. Once I unplug the 2nd hdmi cable and reset, then it boots.

I've googled this and come up with nothing, so I appreciate any insight.
