Hello,

Before I go ahead, I want to post a link about the hard drive I have now: http://www.lacie.com/us/products/product.htm?id=10599

I have it as 500 GB HD. I bought it two years ago but rarely used. I used it now because I need to transfer about 8 GB video file into it, but for strange reason, the maximum memory capacity reduced from 500GB to 1.56GB. I don't understand how it affects the its capacity. What's the solution to this problem?

Solution
The correct term with hard drives is "storage capacity", not memory capacity.

Now, your problem. It is not impossible that the drive is faulty so you need to ascertain whether it is or not before looking elsewhere for the cause. You can test it by installing SeaTools for Windows:
http://www.seagate.com/gb/en/support/downloads/item/seatools-win-master/

If it passes the long/extended test (which will take a while for 500GB) there are some support articles on the product page (your link).
