Hello Everyone..

I am about to go to micro-center to pick up a processor..
G3220 is 44$ while G3240 is 54$..

is the 10$ difference worth it ? i am thinking 100mhz is not gonna give me any noticeable difference.

is there any other difference between the two that i dont know about ?

i already have a separate corei5 4670k based gaming computer.

This new computer is getting hooked upto a tv..
4340 bundle is 189$ while G3240+msi motherboard is only 54+44= 98$..
i dont think 4340 justifies a hundred $ difference considering i don't need a high end motherboard.

If all it is for is a TV, I would consider buying an AMD Kabini based system. Better graphics for video playback. The pentium is a bit weak on the IGP side, weaker than even an i3. At only 25w, it is a nice platform for HTPC type use.

I was comparing these two chips too for a non gaming rig, I compared the specs and the G3240 has Haswell gpu while G3220 has Intel® HD Graphics. Is the Haswell better, obviously it is not going to play games but for general windows performance.

I am definately getting one in this series as my budget does not stretch to Icore but are any of the following definately worth the extra bucks, my PRIMARY goal is to keep power low.

Intel Pentium G3220, S 1150, Haswell, Dual Core, 3.0GHz, 1100MHz GPU, 30x Ratio,
Intel Pentium G3240, S 1150, Haswell Refresh, Dual Core, 3.1GHz, 5 GT/s DMI, 31x Ratio,
Intel Pentium G3420, S 1150, Haswell, Dual Core, 3.2GHz, 1100MHz GPU, 32x Ratio,
Intel Pentium K Anniversary G3258, S 1150, Haswell, Dual Core 3.2GHz, OC up to 4.5GHz, 5 GT/s DMI, 32x Ratio,
Intel Pentium G3440, S 1150, Haswell Refresh, Dual Core, 3.3GHz, 5 GT/s DMI, 33x Ratio,
Intel Pentium G3450, S 1150, Haswell Refresh, Dual Core, 3.4GHz, 5 GT/s DMI, 34x Ratio,
Intel Pentium G3430, S 1150, Haswell, Dual Core, 3.3GHz, 1100MHz GPU, 33x Ratio,

I was looking at these two compared

http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Pentium-G3220-vs-Intel-G3258

The G3258 does not support these set extensions (whatever they are) that ARE supported by the G3220, what will be the impact of this lack of support?

set-extensions
MMX
SSE
SSE3
SSE2
Supplemental SSE3
SSE4

It does support these:

SSE4.2
SSE4.1

The seem identical otherwise except that the G3258 has much greater overclocking ability.
