depends on which Noctua cooler you're going to get.
The Noctua NH-D15 (pretty new) competes AND wins over many AIO watercoolers, while some of the lower profile ones probably only gives you same cooling as a 212 but quieter.

The older version of the D15, the NH-D14 is still a great product too, and could also compete with lots of watercoolers, though for both the D14 and D15 you'll have to make sure your case supports it, since they're huge (though they come pretty easy to install after what I've heard).

There is no definitive answer because chips all differ and also. What is your motherboard?

Nhd14 will allow highest overclocks with more stable temperatures because of the obvious size advantage. I'd say expect 4.6+ if your chip allows it.
