Low Frame Rates in BF4

hi guys,
i have had a problem with my fps for a while now, where my frames are 100+ for a few games and then suddenly go down and hover between 45 and 70. i can be playing on high/ ultra settings at 90 fps, then it dips down so i think my gpu might be struggling slightly so i turn it down and the same thing happens!! why? even on medium it dips to 45, so there doesnt seem to be problem with power either. i also dont use mantle and have tried mantle, but it doesnt seem to work properly
i have an amd fx6300 and an msi r9 270x hawk edition and i just don't understand.
can anyone help me please?
thanks in advance.

ps. now i am playing on low and not even getting 90 fps. help!!!!

  1. Sounds like a potential CPU bottleneck. Try loading a single player game, if your fps go up to the regular numbers, then you have a cpu bottleneck.

    Hi,

If you cpu isn't overclocked, it might be chocking when in big battles.

BF4 is CPU intensive and for 1080 you need to overclock for ultra:

Also so long you get over 60 fps, it should run fine.

  3. well i have the cm hyper 212 evo and my computer seems to have oc'ed itself to 3.8ghz, should i oc it more?
i also googled it and apparently my cpu will not bottleneck my gpu, even if i had a 280x

In general, the CPU won't bottleneck the GPU, but that doesn't mean it's not possible. Certain games, like BF4 Multiplayer and DayZ SA, are very CPU intensive and you will get into a bottleneck situation.

As I mentioned before, a very easy way to test is load up BF4 Single Player and check if you are getting better FPS. Single player is not nearly as CPU intensive as multiplayer is.

  6. to be honest, there isnt really a solution, battlefield works one week then not the next, i changed my cpu and the problem seemed to be fixed, but its back, so i bought a new gpu and am waiting for it to be delivered :/
